17th Dobozi Honey Festival

Since 2008, the Municipality of Doboz has been organising the Dobozi Honey Festival, a village fair set in the stunning natural surroundings of the Doboz Castle Park. The Festival is a two-day cultural, artistic, and gastronomic event series centred around the theme of honey, with a regularly scheduled programme. The aim of the event is to provide its audience with a high-quality, value-driven, educational, and entertaining leisure community experience. The theme of the event is inspired by beekeeping, a profession rooted in the historical past of the village, and the celebration of our national treasure associated with it – genuine Hungarian honey. The essence of the Honey Festival could perhaps be summarised in four words: "preserve, nurture, safeguard, and pass on" all that we have received as a priceless heritage from our ancestors. A key task is the preservation of values and the nurturing of traditions. The programme lineup is enriched by glimpses into former ways of life, craft workshops, folk traditions, and equestrian displays. The festival offers fantastic entertainment for all members of the family, with a variety of shows and activities to choose from. The goal is for the younger generation to learn about the traditions and customs of their ancestors in both everyday life and celebrations, while the older generation reminisces about the old days. The event takes place every year on the first weekend of July in the Doboz Castle Park, infused with an authentic festival atmosphere and the warm hospitality of Doboz.
